The ActiveMovie Control Methods

The ActiveMovie Control supports the following methods (names are case-insensitive):

MethodDescription
AboutBox()Displays the "About ActiveMovie Control" information, i.e. the version and copyright information about ActiveMovie Control.
IsSoundCardEnabled()Finds if the computer's sound card is enabled. Returns true if it is, false otherwise.
Pause()Pauses the sound track playing without changing its position. Use the Stop() method to stop the playback and return the track to its initial position. Use the Play() method to continue playing from the paused position.
Play()Starts a sound track from the specified starting position in SelectionStart property. SelectionStart defaults to 0, so if you don't change it, Play() will start at the beginning of the sound track. The Play() method continues playing the sound track until the position specified by the SelectionEnd property. Call the Pause() method to pause the playback, the Stop() method to stop the sound track.
Stop()Stops the playback and returns the sound track to the position specified in the SelectionStart property, if the AutoRewind property is true. Use the Pause() method to stop playing the sound track without rewinding it to the selection's start position.

The usage of these methods is demonstrated later in this column, in the Audio Control Example.
