A Final Word

In this column we embarked on a new series about Internet Explorer 6. We focused on new properties and methods of the Document Object Model. These are extensions to IE5.5's handling of the DOM standards as described in Columns 40, The DOM, Part I: Analysis, through Column 47, A DOM-Based Snakes Game, Part II. IE6 is simply a more thorough implementation of the DOM standards. We showed you how to manipulate DOM strings, and how the new browser version adds support for the document object. We demonstrated the different handling of the document and documentElement objects. We described the new ownerDocument property that returns the root of the owner DOM.
