The "." pattern in DOMDocument node searching denotes the same rule as in the Unix operating system: "current context." For example, the ./week pattern finds all week elements within the current context (try it). The ./week pattern is identical to the week pattern (w/o the "./"). We can test this pattern with January's context in mydvd7.xml:
var matchedNodes = xmlDoc.childNodes[3].childNodes[1].childNodes[0].
selectNodes('./week');
alert("Number of matched nodes: " + matchedNodes.length);
You can see that there are four nodes returned. These are January's four weeks of proceeds.
