Nielsen//NetRatings released research Wednesday charting the growth of
consumer engagement with Web sites, even as unique user growth is flat or
down. The firm reports sharp increases in the number of pages viewed per
person per month across five categories, saying the finding suggests people
are ever more enthralled with the Internet.

U.S. Sen. George Allen continued his assault on Internet taxes Tuesday,
proposing legislation to permanently ban taxes on Internet connections.
Allen's proposal would keep in place the current grandfather clause but
will strip away that exemption in 2007 and make the ban permanent, a move
that is likely to force another Senate confrontation over the taxation of
the Internet.
