Unlike text-based file formats image files aren't made up of words, which makes searching for an image file by keyword difficult. Instead of being able to simply open the file to see what it contains, you're stuck looking at the text around it and other metadata to determine the image's meaning. In this article, Ziran Sun shows you how to build a simple database-based image keyword system that allows you to associate keywords with images and use these keywords to make finding images easier.

- xml:id Is a W3C Recommendation
The World Wide Web Consortium released "xml:id Version 1.0" as a W3C Recommendation. The specification defines an attribute name, xml:id, that can always be treated as an identifier and hence can always be recognized, without fetching external resources, and without relying on an internal subset. The Recommendation is the latest deliverable of the XML Core Working Group, part of the W3C XML Activity.
World Wide Web Consortium, September 15, 2005 - AOL, Microsoft in Talks
Microsoft and Time Warner are exploring the possibility of merging the MSN Internet portal with the America Online unit of Time Warner, according to a source familiar with the talks.
