There's a really nice map source, a food finder, available at
macromedia.com. The app is simple: specify a city and state and the
top of the page. The page will reload with a map of the area you
specified (there's also a pretty nice "map-within-map" resource that
shows a larger overview of the area which you can fold away if it
blocks your view of the map.) Choose a food type on the right side of
the page and you'll get pointers for restaurants; click on them and
you'll get additional information including ratings, address, and
phone number. Click on that and you'll be taken to an information page
for the restaurant from Yahoo Local. There are additional selectors to
find nearby parking, ATMs, and public transportation.
