>Security Experts Worry About Impact of E-Mail Virus
Computer virus experts are warning users of Microsoft Word to
disable the program's macro feature to help stop the spread of a
new computer virus discovered late Friday. The virus, dubbed the
Melissa macro virus, is spread when users open .doc attachments
to emails with the subject line "Important Message From
The virus first lowers the macro security settings to permit all
macros to run when documents are opened in the future, and then
proceeds to email the attachment to the first 50 emails in your
MAPI address book. The experts are afraid the virus will overload
mail servers across the Internet over the next few days, resulting
in slower e-mail delivery.
