Chapter 7: Creating SVG with Perl

The SVG specification describes several more elements than those described in Chapter 6. In particular, the animation tags allow you to animate SVG elements, and the <script> element can be used to attach JavaScript code to an SVG document. This chapter starts with a sample SVG application that generates slide presentations from custom XML templates, and then develops two animation examples: a simple bouncing ball using the animation tags, and an animation graphic using JavaScript to dynamically reposition objects within the image. The remainder of the chapter presents tips for inserting Unicode strings in SVGs and a tutorial on using the XSLT transformation language to convert arbitrary XML formats into SVG.
