Disabling the Context Menu

If you are using Windows, click your right mouse button anywhere on this page.

Mac users, mousedown on this page and keep the mouse button pressed for a few seconds.

If you are using Internet Explorer 4 for Windows, you will have noticed no behavioral difference.

If you are using Navigator 4+, Explorer 4+ for Macintosh or Explorer 5 for Windows, the context menu that usually appears will not have appeared.

More and more authors are creating Web pages and applications where they want to control all aspects of the user interface and user interaction. Controlling mouse behavior is an integral part of this.

In this short article, we will demonstrate how to disable the context menu in all browsers and platforms that allow it.
