In this column we covered the fundamentals of WMLScript. We explained why WMLScript libraries are so important, and we mentioned all six libraries and their functions. We emphasized WMLScript's unique literals and operators, including invalid and isvalid. We introduced the new concept of pragmas and compilation units. We showed the three types of pragmas: use url, use access, and use meta. We walked you through the Mortgage example, especially those parts that access the WMLScript libraries or the originating WML deck. We explained what is a bytecode format and what is the motivation to use it. We showed a full listing of the compiled Mortgage code.
